From 12pm to 5pm there will be stalls and refreshments in the Castle grounds.
50 stalls will be exhibiting on Carnival day. Many favourites from previous years will be returning, along with some new faces! And we're happy to say that there is the usual mix of food, beer and tea, crafts, games and services.
NB Please note that this year we have no stalls on the island (ie the maze and donkey rides are not there) - this is a recycled drawing!

Our MC
-
Lisa Waterman is manager of Tourist Information Centre and delighted to be our Master of Ceremonies for this year.
Shades of Midnight
-
New for 2019! Shades of Midnight play 50s and 60s music, including Elvis, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles. Amazingly the group (with a few different members!) was playing in the 60s, and were Billy Ocean's first ever band (he joined in 1969)!
-
The band are affiliated to Hatfield Rotary, so their small fee simply goes to charity by a different route.
-
Fancy a listen up-front? Go to their website - Shadesofmidnight.co.uk - and click on the earphone sign on the bottom right to hear them.
Everyone Active - Body Attack!
-
Everyone Active will be taking us through a Body Attack routine! This is a popular aerobics class at Hartham (and at many other leisure clubs), so come along and see why. Class members will be showing us their moves, and all will be welcomed in to the arena; it is suitable for all abilities as options are given.
The Bhangra Drummers
-
Bringing an international feel to the arena, and following their enthusiastic performance at last year's event, the Bhangra Drummers will be on at 1.30!
Studio Fly Aerial Show
-
A mixture of circus skills and fun keep fit, Studio Fly are promising an aerial show. Curious? - we are too! We have no idea quite what this will be, but there's only one way to find out ...
Graham Moss Big Band
-
A local band, the Graham Moss Big Band (aka The Rolling Moss band) have been gigging for years around Hertford. A four piece, they play a mixture of tunes, and use guitars, voices and even bongoes to create a melody!
The Fusion Choir
-
A tuneful regular at our event, this local harmony singing group are always recognisable by their matching scarfs. Their repertoire comprises of songs from the 1940s to the present day, including Elton John and Glenn Miller. They are a popular local wedding choir, and have raised thousands for charity.
Harry's Band
-
Closing our day will be Harry’s Band, a long established country song and dance band. They were founded in the ‘70s by a local doctor, Harry Robertson and continue under their current leader Glyn Day. Just what the doctor ordered? - they certainly went down a-swinging and a-dancing well in 2018!
Many of these are returning as crowd favourites from the previous few years, so make sure you get a good place to watch, and get ready to join in! See our archive footage for pictures of previous performances.
Please note;
The timetable is subject to change up until the day.
The Castle will also be open.

Charity collections
We want Hertford Carnival to benefit our local community, and charities have been selected to be the beneficiaries of all monies raised on the day from collections. We will be collecting on the gates; suggested donation is £1. Obviously feel free to give more if you'd like!
The chosen charities this year are Home-Start Hertfordshire and Alzheimer's Society; click here for more details.

Photos and stories - your help required!
Help us capture the carnival for posterity!
Email us any good photos you take on the day; we would love to add the best to the website. Original, good quality photos that you own (ie that haven't been sent in without someone else's permission) are best. In the past few years we have been sent some great photos from some local people (see archive for the used ones). All photos will be credited with their source.
You can also send us your comments and stories on this year’s carnival; a selection will be published on the website.
Email address is anna_schlenker@hotmail.com (add the subject header 'Hertford Carnival'), or tweet us at @HertCarnival.
If you have a lot of photos you would like to share, we can arrange sharing via another method (DVD, cloud etc) (if you are unfamiliar with these, we will of course talk you through them).
Then watch to see if you appear on the website!
